Uitsig Primary School is nestled right in the heart of The Reeds, a suburb in Centurion. Uitsig first opened its doors in 1993 with Mr Gert P Smith as the first principal.
He retired in 2015 after 22 years of service. Mr Gerhard Swart, who was the deputy principal until 2019, was appointed as Acting Principal in the interim. Mr Swart then handed over the reins of the school to the very capable hands of Dr Musa Hlongwane on 1 February 2017. Dr Hlongwane moved over to the District Office in 2023 and Ms L Moodley stepped up as Acting Principal.
Upon its inception, Uitsig Primary, first known as Laerskool The Reeds, started with 8 teachers and 217 pupils. Our school later became known as Laerskool Uitsig (June 1993), after a decision was taken to reposition ourselves as the first ever parallel medium school in the area. Today, we are known as Uitsig Primary School and we have over 43 teachers and 1651 learners. Just over 32 years later, we are still making strides within our community.
The new premises and buildings that we use today were occupied on 12 January 1994, with 365 pupils. In 2014, there were 1 118 registered learners and in 2025, there are 1651 learners.
